SOCIB at the European Researchers' Night 2020

Today, Friday, November 27, the Balearic Islands Coastal Observing and Forecasting System (SOCIB) participates in the European Researchers' Night 2020 with the “Voces, CSIC Balears” initiative, a monthly science dissemination podcast organised by the Institutional Representation of CSIC in the Balearic Islands. The first episode, which is already available on iVoox, consists of a special episode that gives a voice to researchers working at the Balearic Islands and involved in European projects.

Podcast

Adèle Révelard, postdoctoral researcher at SOCIB, presents the EuroSea project, funded by the European Union within the framework of Horizon 2020. In this interview, Adèle Révelard explains the work of the EuroSea project with the aim of improving the European ocean observing and forecasting system in a global context, delivering ocean observations and forecasts to advance scientific knowledge about ocean climate, marine ecosystems and their vulnerability to human impacts and to demonstrate the importance of the ocean to an economically viable and healthy society.

The podcast presented by Adrián García, Communication and Outreach Officer at the Institute for Cross-Disciplinary Physics and Complex Systems - IFISC (CSIC-UIB), also includes the participation of Massimiliano Zanin, postdoctoral researcher at IFISC (CSIC-UIB) and coordinator of the ARCTIC project. Furthermore, it involves the participation of Anna Traveset, Research Professor at the Mediterranean Institute for Advanced Studies - IMEDEA (CSIC-UIB), institutional representative of CSIC in the Balearic Islands, and participant of the LIFE 4 Pollinators project.

The European Researchers' Night, funded under the Marie Skłodowska-Curie actions (MSCA), is a Europe-wide public event that brings researchers closer to the public. In 2020, 30 countries across Europe and beyond will take part in the event showcasing the diversity of science and its impact on citizens’ daily lives, and stimulating interest in research careers, especially among young people. Above all, the European Researchers' Night will highlight how researchers contribute to our society by displaying their work in an interactive and engaging forum.
